Dr Julio Paulos, Associate Director of Research (Zurich) at Future Cities Laboratory Global (FCLG), has been selected to join the external pageSwiss Young Academy (SYA) for a five-year term.

He was elected with five other members, and will begin his term with the SYA on 21 June.

Dr Paulos is an interdisciplinary urban scholar. His professional and academic engagements span a range of topics, disciplines and geographies, all of which relate to contemporary urban challenges. At FCL Global, Julio is responsible for coordinating the research programme aimed at developing a specialised but coherent vision of how to live on a rapidly urbanising planet in the face of multiple controversies.

The SYA is part of the external pageSwiss Academies of Arts and Sciences. It provides young researchers the opportunity to carry out inter- and transdisciplinary projects and activities at the many intersections of science and society. The Young Academy gives voice to young academics in Switzerland and serves as a networking platform to bring together individuals from many different scientific fields and institutions of higher education. Together with the other 39 members, Dr Paulos will be able to implement these ideas in inter- and transdisciplinary projects over the next five years.
