[EFF] Resource-Efficient Urban Intensification

This project derives novel urban intensification strategies that are based on a deep understanding of the complex interplay between human activity and the built space. To that end, the project will couple urban science (complexity science, urban economics and machine learning) with urban design, which so far have been rather separated streams, allowing for the development of a series of innovative and place-specific planning and design interventions. These measures will not only enhance the functioning of cities and their hinterlands in a resource-saving way but also make urban regions more resilient.
