Dr Deepak Sharma’s work is focused on the design and modeling of porous structures for the optimal growth of mycelium. The work involves bio-inspiration and machine learning to model porous structures, followed by 3D printing and mycelium inoculation.

In his PhD research, Dr Deepak worked on bio-inspired cellular structures with a focus on engineering their mechanical behaviour. His work received the best thesis award in the area of advanced materials.
