Dr Edwin ZEA ESCAMILLA
Dr. Edwin Zea Escamilla is currently Senior Researcher at the Chair for Sustainable Construction at ETH Zürich. Earning his doctorate from ETH Zürich, his dissertation focused on the development of simplified life cycle assessment methodology for construction materials and buildings.
In his career, Dr. Zea has held significant roles such as the Head of Sustainable Building & Real Estate at CCRS, University of Zürich, and chair of the task force on bamboo construction INBAR.
He has contributed to several research projects such as the LCA of Re-/Use materials for Swiss Buildings and ZEROstrat, strategies for near-zero carbon footprint buildings and real estate solutions to increase timber construction in Switzerland.
His work has been recognized with the best paper award in the Journal Building and Environment (2015) by Elsevier B.V., and he has been a recipient a full scholarship from the Netherlands Fellowship Programme (Nuffic) for his Master's studies and a fellowship from HILTI AG for his doctoral studies at ETH Zürich.
Dr. Zea Escamilla has delivered keynotes at several international conferences over the years including the World Urban Forum (WUF11), 2022, the Conference of Parties (COP26), 2021 and the Swiss-Korean Innovation week, 2020
