FCL Global will be organising the Biofrontiers symposium on Monday, 5 October to explore the possibilities of mycelium-bound composite materials in construction.

The one-day symposium highlights the work of the Urban Biocycles Mycelium Digitalisation module of FCL Global. The module brings together researchers from the Block Research Group (ETH), the chair of Digital Building Technologies (ETH), in collaboration with the chairs of Prof. Hortense Le Ferrand from NTU Singapore and Prof. Dirk Hebel from KIT Karlsruhe, with support from the Institute of Technology in Architecture (ITA) and ALIVE, and external pageHolcim Foundation, to develop, utilise, and assess mycelium-bound composite materials in building construction.

This event aims to inspire new conversations regarding circularity in architecture and gauge the barriers and opportunities in utilizing bio-materials, with a focus on mycelium-based materials.

Each panel proposes a mix of experts in order to provide perspective on the industry and on the challenges and opportunities in utilising mycelium-based materials in building construction and architectural applications.

The symposium will be a live, in-person event, and broadcast on Zoom concurrently. Attendees attending online will receive a Zoom link to watch the symposium after registering on external pageEventbrite.
