FCL Global, in collaboration with NTU Centre for Con!temporary Art (NTU CCA) Singapore will be participating and holding events for third edition of the NTU CCA IdeasFest 2023: Food, taking place in Singapore from 16 to 19 February, 2023.

Building upon NTU CCA Singapore’s long term research theme “Climates. Habitats. Environments”, this year’s NTU CCA IdeasFest with the tagline 'Eat.Secure.Sustain' contemplates on the urgency of present food systems, climate awareness and solutions for a more sustainable future. As a platform that features new and ‘out-of-the box’ initiatives, NTU CCA IdeasFest 2023: Food aims to explore pathways towards actionable steps to secure the future of food supplies.

These activities are curated by Prof. Ute Meta Bauer (NTU CCA and NTU ADM), Magdalena Magiera (NTU CCA), Assoc. Prof. Laura Miotto (NTU ADM) and Prof. Dr Thomas Schroepfer (FCL Global), Dr Tanvi Maheshwari (Associate Director for Research, FCL Global).

Conducted by Future Cities Lab (FCL) Global as part of NTU CCA IdeasFest 2023, this workshop will offer:

  • an introduction and training to the beta version of an APP that provides customized plant-growing suggestions including vegetable type selection and planting calendar;
  • the APP also helps you understand the environmental impacts when you grow vegetables at home;
  • a demonstration of how we built the database behind the APP;
  • a hands-on planting-growing session.

19 Feb: The Potential for Digital Models in Urban Agriculture.

The Dense and Green Cities Future Cities Lab Global (FCL G) and the Architecture Intelligence Research Lab (AIRLAB) at SUTD will showcase the architecture of urban agriculture for building sustainable cities through the exhibition at the National Design Centre. The exhibition will be centred around the themes of architecture, agriculture, design and sustainability, curated by Prof. Carlos Banon.

The session will have brief introductions by Prof. Dr Thomas Schroepfer and Prof. Carlos Banon on the topic of Urban Agriculture Architecture for Sustainable Future Cities, followed by a talk by Alba Lombardia, a PhD researcher at SUTD.

The talk will be followed by a guided tour of the exhibition 'Circular Futures: Next Gen.' at the National Design Centre.
