Researchers from the Urban-Rural systems team shared their stories on the expandable house project in two forums as part of the line-up for Singapore Archifest 2020, which is organised by the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA).

external page Singapore Archifest is an annual festival organised by the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) to celebrate Singapore's architecture and built environment. The festival first took place in 2007 and Singapore Archifest 2020 had a program line-up consisting of tours, talks, film screenings, and workshops.

As part of Singapore Archifest 2020, "Indonesia at Archifest 2020: PRAKARSA - A Roundtable Discussion" took place on 24th October. At this forum, Prof. Stephen Cairns and Miya Irawati from the Urban-Rural Systems team at the Future Cities Laboratory programme, spoke about the award-winning expandable house project while Dr Devisari Tunas facilitated the discussion as the moderator. Prakarsa shone a spotlight on experts from Singapore and Indonesia who have gone above and beyond their architectural domain practices to become activists and invited the experts to share their inspiring insights on being architect-activists.

Miya also spoke about the expandable house project at a second forum named "Pecha Kucha Penang Night x Singapore Archifest 2020: Let’s Go-Ro!" on 16th October. The GO-RO forum was co-organised by Pecha Kucha Penang and connected architects and community designers from Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. GO-RO or Gotong Royong (mutual help in Bahasa Melayu) aimed to encourage dialogue, establish networks, and to expose participants to what architects/designers/artists have been doing as well as what can be done in the future.
