Daliana SURYAWINATA

Urban Design Coordinator of Agropolitan Territories of Monsoon Asia

Daliana Suryawinata is a licensed Indonesian architect, currently in charge of the Seed Town demonstration project in Cikarang as a part of the Agropolitan Territories module. She co-founded SHAU, a multi-awarded architecture office in Indonesia, the Netherlands and Germany together with Prof. Florian Heinzelmann and Tobias Hofmann. SHAU’s projects range from microlibraries, public spaces, housing to masterplans which merge community and environmental design aspects, with material experimentation into novel multifunctional typologies.


Prior to moving to Indonesia and then Singapore, Daliana lived in the Netherlands for 12 years for her postgraduate studies and worked as an architect at OMA, MVRDV, West8 and as a researcher and lecturer at The Why Factory at TU Delft. In 2009 she curated ‘Open City Jakarta’ with Prof Stephen Cairns for the 4th International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR) which was head-curated by Prof Kees Christiaanse. Daliana has worked with key governmental leaders such as Joko Widodo (President of Indonesia), Ridwan Kamil (Governor of West Java) and former minister Mari Pangestu (a World Bank director). She is a recipient of the Indonesian Diaspora Network Innovation Award 2012, one of 99 most inspiring women by Globe Asia 2019, and 100 women to watch in architecture from Architizer 2021.
