Dr Rudi Stouffs is principal investigator of the Circular Future Cities research module in Future Cities Lab Global. At the National University of Singapore, he is dean’s chair associate professor and deputy head for research in the Department of Architecture, School of Design and Environment, where he leads the Technologies cluster and the Architectural and Urban Prototyping lab. He is also research thrust leader for Parametric BIM in the NUS Centre of Excellence in BIM Integration.

His research interests include computational issues of description, modelling, and representation for design, in the areas of shape recognition and design generation, building information modelling and analysis, virtual cities and digital twins.

At the Singapore-ETH Centre, he is also principal investigator of the Digital Twin-​​Enabled System Resilience research module in the Future Resilient Systems research programme.

Dr Stouffs is vice-president elect of eCAADe – the Association for Education and Research in Computer Aided Architectural Design in Europe. He is an editorial board member of the International Journal of Architectural Computing, AI-EDAM, and Cogent Social Sciences. He is also reviewer for numerous international peer-reviewed journals and conferences, as well as national research foundations.

He holds a PhD in Architecture and an MSc in Computational Design from Carnegie Mellon University, as well as an MSc in Architectural Engineering from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He has held previous appointments at the School of Architecture at Carnegie Mellon University, the Chair for Architecture and CAAD at ETH Zurich, and the Chair of Design Informatics at TU Delft.
